My family has a lot of traditions. No matter what the Holiday is, we generally have some sort of tradition. Now that I am married and have a child, I’ve been looking forward to making my own traditions. Unfortunately, until we have an actual kitchen, Thanksgiving is a Holiday that we will have to continue with my parents.
This year, we all woke up early and got to my parents place by 8:45am in order to see the Macy’s Day Parade. Every year, we watch the parade while tearing up the bread for the stuffing. This year, it was kind of difficult to watch the whole thing as I was watching Kayleigh most of the time, but she enjoyed seeing the floats that looking like the tv shows we watch.
Once the parade is over, we watch the dog show. This has only been a tradition since our schnauzer died in 2010. It was nice to see all the puppies since I wouldn’t be able to have another until I was on my own. This year, it was awesome to see the dogs and compare them to our mutt Korry. Then we watched football for the rest of the day.
There really isn’t much other tradition from the past years, but I’m sure that we’ll start new traditions as the years go by.
On another note, Kayleigh had her first mashed potatoes and turkey. She even got to have some stuffing. She is such a foodie so I was excited to be able to share this moment with her.
